4 Favoritism - To influence in an unfair direction
BIAS Favoritism - To influence in an unfair direction Pierce is creating a research team to study the effects of boating on the river in his home town. How can he reduce bias in his study? Interview only the boaters who are on the river every weekend? Interview just the fishermen who are concerned about the gas polluting the river? Interview only the people who live along the river who enjoy the serene view each day? Interview the boaters, the fishermen, AND the people who live along the river?

5 Society’s perception as to what is right or wrong.
ETHICS Society’s perception as to what is right or wrong. A scientist develops a new vaccine for AIDS. It can cure the disease, but it can also release toxins into the air. What should the scientist do? Report the good, but not the bad results? Only sell his drug to the one of the major drug companies like Pfizer or Merck, whichever one is the highest bidder. Tell the public that his drug cures the disease, but it is dangerous to the environment. Do nothing.
