1 DO NOW VL: 0 NO DO NOW TODAY! Monday 10/26
Take out a pencil and clear everything off of your table. Grab a periodic table and set up your folders.

2 Interactive Notebook Quiz on Friday!
AGENDA Agenda Complete Chemistry Unit Exam Work on missing HW or Do Nows Alien Elements Performance Assessment Homework No homework this week! Spend time this week making up any missing work. Interactive Notebook Quiz on Friday!

3 Read and re-read the passage. Underline the question
Chemistry Unit Test VL: 0 TEST I.D Read and re-read the passage. Underline the question Bubble important words Identify the key idea, write it in margin. Eliminate the wrong answers Select the correct answer ✓ Mass of an object

4 DO NOW VL: 0 Tuesday 10/27 Answer in complete sentences on your DO NOW handout. 1. List 2 examples of an object in motion. Ex. A student walking down the hallway. 2. Describe what causes the object to move. Ex. The student’s mass and force of her feet pushing against the ground causes her to move forward.

5 EQs & Objectives ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS: OBJECTIVES:
How do unbalanced forces affect the motion of an object?   OBJECTIVES: Students will be able to identify the effects of unbalanced forces.

6 Vocabulary Force Unbalanced Force Balanced Force

7 Interactive Notebook Quiz on Friday!
AGENDA Agenda Blow Dryer Mini Lab Force Foldable “Here Comes the Boom” video Homework No homework this week! Spend time this week making up any missing work. Interactive Notebook Quiz on Friday!

8 Blow Dryer Demo VL: 2 Blow Dryer Lab
Copy the following table on page of your INB. Record your observations. 71 Blow Dryer Lab Blow dryer position Ping Pong Observations Direction of Motion (arrows) No blow dryer Air flowing straight up Air flowing at a 45 degree angle Air flowing at a 90 degree angle

9 Force Foldable VL: 2 Cut out the title “Force”
Cut out the 3 boxes with a question. Cut out the bottom 3 boxes. Arrange the Foldable on page of your notebook. Tape each piece down using ONE piece of tape. Answer the questions under the flaps. Draw one example of “Balanced Force” under the flap “Balanced Force.” Draw one example of “Unbalanced Force” under the flap “Unbalanced Force.”

10 Examples of Unbalanced Forces
VL: 2 Notice the changes in speed and direction! Here comes the boom!

11 DO NOW VL: 0 Wed/Thur Complete the following on your DO NOW handout in complete sentences. Give one example of a balanced force and give one example of an unbalanced force.

12 EQs & Objectives ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS: OBJECTIVES:

AGENDA Agenda Hand back Chemistry Exam, discuss most missed questions, tutoring options Tug of War – Balanced and Unbalanced Forces Force and Motion Video & Vocabulary Calculating Net Force & Practice Problems Unbalanced Forces Exit Ticket Homework No homework this week! Spend time this week making up any missing work. Interactive Notebook Quiz on Friday!

15 Tug-of-War

16 Questions Answer the following questions on page __.
Describe the tug-of-war trials using the words: balanced force, unbalanced force, and motion. Describe an example where there was an unbalanced force. How did you know it was unbalanced? Draw a picture of a trial where the forces were unbalanced with arrows showing the direction of the forces. Draw a picture of a trial where the forces were balanced with arrows showing the direction of the forces.

17 Force and Motion Video Force and Motion Discussion Questions:
What is inertia and how does if affect the motion of an object? How does mass affect an object’s inertia? What is friction and how does it affect an object’s motion? What is gravity? Give an example from the video.

18 Force vocab foldable Make a four tab foldable on page __
Put one term on each tab: Inertia Gravity Friction Mass

19 Net Forces VL: 2 Tape into INB on page __

20 Practice Problems 30 N 20 N What is the net force?
Are the forces balanced or unbalanced? Describe the motion of the object. (none, accelerate to left, accelerate to right) 30 N 20 N
