1 Insidious Pride Elusive Humility
Pride grows within us insidiously, while humility remains elusive in the face of ardent efforts to obtain it. Plenty of motivation is given in Scripture for avoiding pride and pursuing humility. But, as a practical matter, do we understand the difference between how pride and humility behave?

2 Why pursue humility and flee pride?
The Lord promises great blessings to the humble! Salvation (Psalm 18:27; 149:4 ) Guidance (Psalm 25:9 ) Exaltation (Psalm 147:6; Matthew 23:12; Luke 14:11; 18:14) A home with God (Isaiah 57:15) The Lord promises punishment and woe to the proud! (Proverbs 16:5; Isaiah 2:11-12)

3 Unrecognized Pride VS. Uncommon Humility
Speaking evil of others is a work of pride (James 4:6-12; Proverbs 3:34; 2 Corinthians 7:10; Psalm 101:5) Humility results in submission to man and supplication to God (1 Peter 5:5-6; Titus 3:1-2) Pride provokes, humility restores (Galatians 5:25—6:3)

4 Humility: Heaven’s Path to Glorifying God
Humility is Christlikeness (Philippians 2:3- 8) Humility glories in God and His grace, not in oneself (1 Corinthians 4:7; 1:29-31) 2 Corinthians 10:17-18 “He who glories, let him glory in the Lord. For not he who commends himself is approved, but whom the Lord commends.”
