11 The War Guilt Clause "The Allied and Associated Governments affirm, and Germany accepts, the responsibility of Germany and her Allies for causing all the loss and damage to which the Allied and Associate Governments and their nationals have been subjected as a consequence of a war imposed upon them by the aggression of Germany and her Allies." Article 231 Article 231 says that Germany is responsible for starting WWI and must pay reparations.

12 REPARATIONS Germany was forced to pay each country back for their losses during the war. They paid $4 billion total along with an unnamed sum (up to $23 billion) Germany was also not allowed to unite with Austria

13 Aftermath of the Treaty
Germany was not invited to the peace conference. Most Germans felt that France and Britain were also at blame for the war. Germany’s economy would be absolutely crippled because of the reparations they had to pay. Germany’s government became a democratic republic
