11. The War Guilt Clause

Article 231
Article 231 says that Germany is responsible for starting WWI and must pay reparations.

12. REPARATIONS
Germany was forced to pay each country back for their losses during the war.
They paid $4 billion total along with an unnamed sum (up to $23 billion)
Germany was also not allowed to unite with Austria

13. Aftermath of the Treaty
Germany was not invited to the peace conference.
Most Germans felt that France and Britain were also at blame for the war.
Germany’s economy would be absolutely crippled because of the reparations they had to pay.
