Must be 30 years old Citizen of the U.S. for 15 years Legal resident of Georgia for 6 years

3 Duties and Powers of Governor
Head of state Responsible for ensuring that laws are carried out Peace is preserved Commander of the state military forces Reviews bills and resolutions of the General Assembly Veto power

4 Duties and Powers of Governor
Issues writ of election to fill vacant offices in the House and Senate Calls special sessions of the General Assembly Fill vacancies in public office unless otherwise dictated by the constitution Fills elected executive positions left vacant, upon confirmation of the Senate.

5 Lieutenant Governor Provides over the state Senate
Serves on the committee that determines committee membership and committee chairperson Cannot vote or sponsor legislation, he or she works with advocates in the Senate to introduce legislation Can influence state policy and establish spending priorities If governor leaves office, the lieutenant governor becomes the chief executive until a successor is elected at the next general election

6 Secretary of State Wide ranging administrative responsibilities for the entire government, particularly in business activities and state records Maintains and provides information on corporations Elections Professional licensure Securities Archives State capitol
