1 Exam feedback – 6 mark questions
For a 6 mark question you need to write at least 4 good scientific points. The final 2 marks are for the Quality of your writing Use connectives e.g. Whereas, in comparison, because (no bullet points!) Check your spelling and punctuation Try to use scientific terms You must explain what you mean – don’t just describe (use a “because”!)

Watch the Bungee Jump video and explain what is happening using the idea of energy

3 Lesson Title Energy Transfers

4 Objectives Understand what energy is and that it can exist in nine different forms. Understand that when work is done, energy is transferred from one form to another. Describe the energy transfers and the main energy wastages that occur in a range of situations or appliances. Energy can be transferred usefully, stored or dissipated, but cannot be created or destroyed.

5 Task There are 9 sheets hidden around the room
Each one has a different type of energy on them Find them – house points for the finders!

Elastic Sound Light Solar Heat Chemical Gravitational Potential Electrical Kinetic Nuclear In groups you have 3 minutes to write down different examples of that type of energy being transferred

When work is done, energy is transferred from one form to another (or from one place to another) E.g. Car Chemical to Kinetic TV Electrical to Light + Sound However! Not all energy is transferred usefully. Some is usually transferred into unwanted forms! Energy cannot be created or destroyed!

15 Apply your knowledge 2 What are the energy changes as this person travels along a roller coaster? Watch the animation, then you will need to label what the energy levels are like at different stages of the track

19 Construct Your task is to design/make a Heath-Robinson type device to turn a fan or propeller. You will then present your design to the group explaining the energy changes which occur.

20 Mini Review Think about your design. How successful was it overall?
What was good about it? What was not good about it? How could it be improved?

21 Review Write a paragraph explaining what you have learnt today
What relevance does it have to your life? Can you explain how?
