8. EBV is a Zoonotic Disease
1. Fruit bats are the possible virus reservoir (recently confirmed). The virus is spread during migration.
2. Infected fruit bats leave behind feces and infected pieces of fruit from their salvia. Other animals such as monkeys, gorillas, chimpanzees, and deer eat the fruit. They become sick and die.
3. PRIMARY HUMAN INFECTION: Humans are infected either by coming in contact with the bats (rare) or through handling of infected dead or sick animas found in the forest (more frequent).
4. SECONDARY TRANSMISSION: Human-to-human transmission through direct contact with blood, fluids, organs, etc. of an infected person.

9. Treatment for Ebola No cure!
Experimental therapies are extremely limited and of unclear benefit
Only support measures are used:
Hydration
Fever reduction
Pain management
Bleeding Control
Aim is to keep patient alive long enough for natural immunity to develop and clear the virus.
