2 What is Chemical Engineering?
Chemical engineering is a field of study in which engineers manufacture and improve chemicals used in the world. Leadership, chemical research, and chemical testing are all aspects that this job may require.

3 Why Chemical Engineering
My family has background in all engineering fields, but my great uncle in particular has made quite a bit of money, and really enjoyed his job and time working as a chemical engineer.

4 Where? A chemical engineer generally works in an indoor lab. They will be managed, and will have others with whom they can collaborate. A shared space is the most common place of work.

5 Specializations Specialization can be with a certain material, or a certain field of materials. Ex. Phosphorus or Organic Chemistry

6 Occupational Information
Median Pay (Salary)- $97,360 Median Pay (Hourly)- $46.81 Expected Growth over 10 years- 2% Number of Jobs- 34,600 (2014) Entry level education- Bachelor’s degree Make most money in Alaska

7 Why is it important? This field specializes in the development of chemicals that can be used to improve society. Chemicals that promote the flow of electrons are helpful and beneficial in electronics and power.

8 Patents In Chemical Engineering, patents are important for many reasons. A patent allows other engineers to see what you have done, and allows application of the information. A patent also is legal proof that you have the rights to an idea or discovery.

10 Cost & Other Information
Bucknell Cost- $51,676 Cost (Credit Hour)- $1,369 Offers Financial Aid Provides many after college employment options, and has speakers from time to time. John Hopkins Cost- $52,170 Cost (Credit Hour)- $419 Offers Financial Aid AIChE is a program that supports interaction between students and professionals, and holds seminars and other discussions to learn more about the job.

11 Bucknell Yes I would attend this University because it has a nice campus, and it is only a two hour drive from home. Bucknell is also ABET certified, and slightly cheaper than John Hopkins. John Hopkins Yes I would attend this school as my backup, because this school allows me to work more outside of school and take night classes, but is a bit more expensive than Bucknell. This university is also ABET certified, however it is much closer to home.
