1 Kinetic and Potential Energy

2 Law of conservation of energy
Boardworks Science Conservation of energy All energy transfers follow the law of conservation of energy: Energy cannot be created or destroyed, just changed in form. This means that energy never just ‘disappears’. The total amount of energy always stays the same, i.e. total input energy = total output energy. In most energy transfers, the energy is transferred to several different forms, which may or may not be useful. Energy that is transferred to unwanted forms of energy is wasted.

3 What happens to the energy of falling objects?
Boardworks Science Conservation of energy A falling object loses gravitational potential energy and gains kinetic energy. This is an example of the law of conservation of energy. Gravitational Potential Energy (GPE) lost equals Kinetic Energy (KE) gained If the rollercoaster has J of GPE at the top of the slope, how much KE will it have gained when it reaches the bottom? 4 Finish Ball Bounce Lab Sheet:
Need to finish the below sections: -Complete the Variables- Independent, Dependent and Controlled -Observations and Analysis Questions -Conclusion Questions

5 Ball Bounce Lab Discussion:
Aim: To determine the relationship between height and gravitational potential energy. How does the drop height (gravitational potential energy) of a ball affect the bounce height (kinetic energy) of the ball? What did you guys find?

6 Why balls bounce differently:
Stop it at 4 min 20secs!

7 Worksheet Activities:
Kinetic and Potential Energy Worksheet When finished put your hand up and I have Go through this worksheet Hand out next worksheet- will be homework if not finished
