What should a good assessment do in your opinions? Personal Story: My husband is in law school and some of the professors offer midterms that are not graded when my husband first started he thought that nobody would take them… not surprising to me, everyone showed up… why?

Formative Assessments: Monitor student learning Provide feedback that is used by instructors Used to improve teaching and student learning What types of formative assessments do you in class? Indicator #51

Summative Assessments: Evaluate student learning Used to guide efforts and activities in subsequent teaching Goal: point out that both, when used effectively, are to inform instruction! Whether it be on the part of the teacher or the student. I use to think the FCAT was just to show what they student was able to do… then it occurred to me that we base SLC on this. Indicator #51
