3 A word that describes a noun.
Squishy Dangerous Adjective! Blue A word that describes a noun. Round Dark Big Fun

4 VERBS! Throw Bounce Kick Action Words! Anything you can do!

5 But what about words that describe the things that we do?
Are there some magical type of words that do that? Why yes class, yes there are…and they call them ADVERBS!!!

6 All these adverbs describe the many ways we can do something.
Let’s use our ball again… All these adverbs describe the many ways we can do something. An adverb is just like an adjective, but instead of modifying nouns, it modifies verbs. Remember, we can throw our ball, bounce our ball, and kick our ball. But oh how many ways that we can do them. For example… Or, maybe I want to smash my ball violently! I can bounce my ball gently. Or I can kick it roughly!

7 Prepositions! Forget the silly ball, what can you do with a box?
Can you stand on the box? Can you walk behind the box? Words that link other parts of speech together Typical spatial Other examples: Except About Since Until Of What about in the box? Can you walk to the box? Forget the silly ball, what can you do with a box?

8 Now, that’s what we call old school…
I could probably come up with something clever for conjunctions, but why reinvent the wheel? Now, that’s what we call old school…

9 Let’s work together! Get with your 3 o’clock partner and wait patiently until I give your group a box of crayons. Correct the errors in the passage on the white board. Underline all the nouns with a blue crayon. Underline all the adjectives with a yellow crayon. Underline all the adverbs with a purple crayon. Circle all the verbs with a green crayon. Draw a box with a red crayon around any conjunctions or prepositions.
