2 Couple of Reminders Be working on your projects.
Due Next Monday. Turn in the poster as well as the item cost sheet. Food in the classroom. This is absolutely not allowed. Only water in water bottles. No gum. Pick up around your area (paper, pencil sharpener, etc.) calendar.html

3 Finish Class work from Friday
You have the next 30 minutes to finish the class work from Friday. If you are already finished, you may spend this time: Studying for tomorrow’s test Reading a book Working on other schoolwork

4 5.2 and 5.5 Test review Notes: When solving equations: One Solution – This is when you end up with “x = number” Null Set (No Solutions) – This is when you end up with a statement that isn’t true “4 = 10” Identity (Infinite Solutions) – This is when you end up with a statement that is always true. “2 = 2”

5 Vocabulary Null or Empty Set – Equations that have no solution. Shown by ø or { } Identity – Equations that have every number as their solution

6 5.2 Problems Solve each equation. Check your solution. #1. 2x + 1 = x + 11 #2. a + 2 = 5 + 4a #3. n + 11 = 2n #4. 7 – 4c = 3c - 7

7 5.5 Problems Solve each equation. Check your solution.
# (d + 2) = 12 # (n – 3) = 3(n + 7) # (y – 5) + 25 = 3y # s – 14 = 2(2s + 3) – 9s

8 Word Problems from 5.2 and 5.5 #1. A town pool has two individual membership rates. You can pay a $75 membership fee and then $2 each time you use the pool or you can pay a $15 membership fee and $5 each time you use the pool. Writes and solve an equation to determine how many times you must visit the pool for the costs to be equal.

9 Word Problems 5.2 and 5.5 #2. A group of friends went on a three-day hike. During the second day of the hike, the group hiked twice as far as they did on the first day. On the third day, they hiked twelve miles farther than the combined distance of the first two days. Write and expression to show the total distance the group of friends hiked over three days.

10 Word Problems 5.2 and 5.5 Write an equation and solve for the variable. #3. A number increased by 6 is 206. #4. Three times a number is thirty – six less than five times the number.

11 Word Problems 5.2 and 5.5 #5. The perimeter of a rectangle is 80 feet. The length is five more than 4 times the width. Use the following equation to find the dimensions. P = 2l + 2w What is the width? What is the length? What is the area (lw)?

12 Homework Finish up class work. Turn in to me before you take tomorrow’s test.
