Welcome to Mrs. Haugland’s 4th Grade Mtn. View Elementary Open House Sept. 12, 2013

2 Meet the Teacher I am very happy to be your child’s teacher this year. I have 13 years of teaching experience, including 1st, 2nd and ELL (English Language Learners). This is my first year teaching 4th grade and I am very excited for this new challenge. I am looking forward to an exciting and memorable year.

Behavior Color Chart Student clips Every child on Ready to Learn to begin the day Think Time The Think Time sheet will be sent home with the student for you to sign and return. 3 Think Times in one week=after school detention

7 Academics Science (Miss Beckley) - Idaho History (Mrs. Haugland) Math:
New Curriculum this year with a technology component Math: New Common Core Standards emphasizing thinking about math & multiple ways to solve problems. More information to come at Math Night in October Reading: Centers Approach - (independent reading and small groups) Focus : comprehension, fluency, critical reading & responses

8 4th Grade Book Challenge
Each student selected a goal to read 5, 10, or 15 books Chosen from a variety of genres Frequent book responses Quarterly Book Project (1st Quarter project will be a Cereal Box Book Report) The more you read, the more you know. Independent Reading Log Due on Fridays Reading Responses filled out for all 5 nights Spelling Tests on Thursdays New spelling words will come home on Friday’s Homework once a week Homework Help during lunch Binders & Agendas These go home every night.
