3 Absolute Value Absolute Value: the distance a number is from zero on number line. Distance is always positive; therefore, the absolute value of a number is always positive.

4 Absolute Value Equations and Inequalities
There can be multiple numbers with the same absolute value. (Ex: 𝒙 =πŸ“) We want to make sure that we include both options when solving. Therefore, when solving absolute value equations and inequalities, split into two equations.

5 Solving Isolate the absolute value. (cannot = negative)
Write two equations or inequalities. Solve separately. Check answers.
