5. Class expectations
    1.      Be prepared for class: Always come to science prepared for learning outside. Bring a water bottle, appropriate shoes, a clipboard, a notebook or loose leaf paper, and a pencil(s) to science every day. It's also a good idea to have sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat. (If you do not have a certain supply, please ask a peer or Ms. Molina BEFORE we leave for the field.) 2.      Homework:  No homework assignments will be accepted late.  This is because the homework is to prepare you for the lesson for that day.  Most homework assignments should not take you more than 30 minutes to an hour. 3.      Absent: If you miss school due to an excused absence, you will have one extra day for each day missed to make up your work. You are responsible for checking Weebly for missed assignments. 4.      Be GREEN!:  If possible, use scratch paper, cut half sheets of paper to use for later, only use what you need… 5.      Be Respectful: Please respect your classmates and teacher when they are speaking.  Also have an open-mind to other people’s opinions and beliefs. 6.      Be Responsible:  You are not responsible for other student's words, behaviors, and attitudes.  Let others own their words, behaviors, and attitude.  They do not reflect on you, only you reflect on you. 7.      *IMPORTANT* Be SAFE:  Most of the time we will be out of the classroom and learning around Maui.  It is extremely important that you are aware of your surroundings, staying within the boundaries, and following directions.  We need to be safe at all times to avoid harming ourselves, others, and the environment.  NO HORSEPLAY!  Not being safe in the field could result in suspension from field activities. 8.      Extra Help: I am always available for extra help at school and will respond to promptly. 9.      Have fun!:  We will be doing a lot of hands-on activities and experiments.  Be ready to have fun and dive into science!

●An observation is a statement describing a fact.
● Use five senses: smell, taste, sight, touch, and sound.
● Simply describe something as it appears.
Example: There are clouds in the sky and puddles of water on the ground

Inference:
● An inference is a conclusion based on your understanding of the facts.
● It requires thought.
