1 IC: Volume – day 1 Materials Pencil
Monday, 3/13/17 Write the IC and HW in your planner. IC: Volume – day 1 HW: p.380 (9, 10, 12, 13, 14) Materials Must show work finding the volume of both lockers for credit!! Pencil Slate, marker, eraser Math folder 1 1 1

2 Bellwork

3 Ch. 9.4 – state standard 7.G.6 TSWBAT find the volume of prisms. Date________________ Volume of Prisms Volume of a 3-D figure is the number of cubic units (cubes) that are contained in its interior. This is just like area of a 2-D figure is the number of square units contained in its interior. Area Volume

4 Formula

5 Volume of Prisms V = Bh Base: A = bh 15 yd = 6(8) = 48 yd²
Find the volume of each figure. V = Bh Ex. 1: Base: A = bh 15 yd = 6(8) = 48 yd² Volume = 48(15) V = 720 yd³

6 15 yd 6 yd 8 yd V = Bh Base: A = ½bh 15 yd = ½(8)(6) = 24 yd²
Ex. 2: Find the volume. V = Bh Base: A = ½bh 15 yd = ½(8)(6) 15 yd = 24 yd² Volume = 24(15) 6 yd 8 yd V = 360 yd³

7 Volume of Prisms 15 yd 6 yd 8 yd V = 360 yd³
Find the volume of each figure. Ex. 1: Ex. 2: 15 yd 6 yd 8 yd V = 360 yd³ V = 720 yd³

8 V = Bh Base: A = ½bh 10 ft = ½(6)(4) = 12 ft² Volume = 12(10)
Ex. 3: Find the volume. V = Bh Base: A = ½bh 10 ft 4 ft = ½(6)(4) = 12 ft² 10 ft 6 ft Volume = 12(10) V = 120 ft³

9 V = Bh Base: A = 80 cm² 14 cm Volume = 80(14)
Ex. 4: Find the volume. V = Bh 14 cm Base: A = cm² 14 cm Volume = 80(14) Area of base (B) = 80 cm² V = 1120 cm³
