5. WHAT IS A SUFFIX?!
A suffix is a group of letters attached to the end of a root or word (or even group of words)  For example, a suffix can tell the part of speech of a word or modify/change and extend meaning.

6. THE POLIS Polis: a city-state of ancient Greece
Some cities like Annapolis, Indianapolis, Metropolis borrow “polis”. It serves as a Suffix for this cities!

Pennsylvania just passed a law that to be a citizen, you had to meet the following criteria.
You have to be a male.
You have to be born in Pennsylvania.
Your parents had to have been born in Pa.
You cannot be a slave.
For that last one, we are all okay, but give me a green check if you would be a citizen, a red x if you would not

Thanks Greeks!!!
Despite the lack of rights for the majority of the population, the Greeks gave more rights to people than any other civilization we discussed, and many of our ideas about rights come from the Greeks.
The Greeks believed that people should use their minds and past experiences to choose the kind of government that worked best.
