2 How did the moon form? The moon was created from a HUGE asteroid striking an early version of our Earth.  

3 Light and Dark Areas on the Moon
The light areas are highlands.  The dark areas are places where asteroids stuck, creating craters. The craters filled with molten lava and cooled. Some craters are hundreds of miles across.

4 Why do we study the Moon? We study other planets and our moon to understand more about our own planet.

10 How Does the Earth and Moon Interact?
The Moon and the Earth's mass are close in comparison to the other "parent-satellite" systems. The most observable and prolific interaction is the tidal system.  

11 Moon Rocks When astronauts brought back rocks from the moon, they found that there were high levels of metals in them.

12 The Moon's Structure Structure is similar to Earth.
Scientists used information from the rocks the found. Determined that the rocks came from the mantle. The mantle makes up the most mass of the Moon. The center, they believe, is probably metallic.
