Most learners prefer to have colorful visuals instead of black and white We need to find out what out learners interests are and design our learning tools with that knowledge Karissa White

Decode- “read” visuals proficiently by practicing visual analysis skills. Encode- “write” visuals to express themselves and communicate with others. Karissa White

Pictures- Photographs in a book or magazine Drawings- Teacher made drawings Charts- Tables and flowcharts Graphs- Bar or circle graphs Posters- Poster about an upcoming concert Cartoons- The comics in the newspaper, and magazines Karissa White

Presentation software could be used for the following things: Handouts for students Note pages to copy Watch video clips on slideshows Have graphs up for students to look at Karissa White

Answers cannot be found, they must be constructed They cast old knowledge, ideas, texts, in a new light They generate more questions They lead to discovery and uncovering, rather than simply covering, a topic Students must go beyond the information given to develop their answers Karissa White
