5. factor A small part of something
There are several factors that contributed to me passing all my classes. One factor is that I started sleeping at night instead of playing video games. Another factor is that I paid attention to my teachers. One more factor is that I do my work now. All those factors added up to me being able to get good grades.

6. abbreviate Shortened; cut short
I didn’t read the actual book; I just read
the abbreviated, or short version of it online.

7. diminish
To gradually get less and less or to gradually become even smaller

8. disk
Disk storage is where data is recorded by various electronic, magnetic, optical, or mechanical changes to a surface layer of one or more rotating disks. 
Before we had “clouds” and before we had flash drives, we had to store our computer information on floppy disks. The first disks were huge, but as technology improved, the size of the disk diminished so that we don’t even need them anymore.

9. miniature A tiny version of something larger
A “Standard Dachshund” is the regular size of the dog, but there is such a thing as a “Miniature Dachshund” which always stays small, even when it’s full-grown.

10. minute
It’s spelled the same as “minute”, like you have five minutes, but it’s not pronounced the same way.
Something that is “minute” (my-noot) is something that is very, very small, like almost microscopic.

11. paltry
Paltry means something that is so small, it’s basically worthless and pointless to even have.
Um… This is all the mac & cheese I get? That’s such a paltry amount! You might as well have not even given me any!

12. scale an instrument or machine for weighing something small
Lots of fruits are sold by the pound, and fruit can be expensive. So if you want to buy a pound of apples and each pound costs $6.00, you definitely want to weigh it first to see how much you can actually buy.

13. trace
An amount so small that you can barely even tell it’s there.
There’s just a little trace amount of salt in the soup. I think it needs more salt!
