Branches of Forensics Physical evidence comes in many forms, so there are many branches of forensic science used to interpret this evidence. Below are listed 17 of the major areas. You will be assigned ONE of these areas to investigate. Research the area in different sources such as online encyclopedias and the internet. When you have enough background material, prepare a brief paper (1-2 pages) about the forensic branch. Your paper should be set up as follows: I.   Definition - describe your branch in one or two sentences. II. Elaboration - One to two paragraphs specifically illustrating how this branch is used in solving crimes. III.Describe a specific case where this branch was used. The case may not be one that you have already talked about in class.

Forensic Areas Forensic Pathology Forensic Toxicology

Let’s look at an example… Forensic Chemistry

Plan…. We will go to the computer lab.
Best case scenario…you all finish a beautifully written (typed) paper quickly and we come back to the classroom with enough time to share our findings with each other. Most realistic scenario…make sure you finish your paper by the end of class…or it becomes homework. We will briefly share our findings with each other on Monday.
