The portal is aimed to promote the visibility and optimal access to library and information services. The project is intended to support the development goals through the effective collection, use and sharing of data within the library sector. It maps the location, highlight the activities, and provides the contact details of public and community libraries in South Africa. The rationale of the geo-mapping project is to promote optimal accessibility, enable users, potential users, researchers and government officials to locate public libraries with ease.
