1 Objective 11: I can define ozone layer and greenhouse effect
Ozone layer: a layer of O3 in the stratosphere, it absorbs ultraviolet rays, which stops them from reaching the surface of the earth Greenhouse effect: the process by which heat is trapped in the atmosphere by water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane and other gases that form a “Blanket” around the Earth.

2 Objective 12: I can describe how altitude affects air pressure and temperature
Altitude: used to describe the height of something in relation to sea level on Earth. Altitude and Air Pressure: Altitude , Air Pressure Altitude and Temperature: Troposphere - Altitude , Temperature Stratosphere – Altitude , Temperature Mesosphere – Altitude , Temperature Thermosphere – Altitude , Temperature

3 Objective 13: I can explain the composition of air
Air is mainly made up of: 78% NITROGEN 21% OXYGEN (O2) 1% Other gases – mainly water vapor (H2O), and Carbon Dioxide (CO2) and other trace gases

4 Water vapor and Carbon Dioxide

5 Composition of the Atmosphere
Remember: Composition of the Atmosphere “Never (Nitrogen) Open (Oxygen) Canned (Carbon Dioxide) Worms” (Water Vapor)

6 AIR MOLECULES

7 It is a thin layer of gases surrounding the earth
The Atmosphere It is a thin layer of gases surrounding the earth Gases include Nitrogen, Oxygen, Water Vapor, Carbon Dioxide and others. Particles are also a part of the atmosphere It is ESSENTIAL to our survival and life on earth
