2 Fig 1 Histamine influences DC migration (H4R) and cytokine secretion, resulting in increased IL-12 (H1R) or IL-10 (H2R) responses. H1R is expressed by TH1 cells, and histamine further promotes the TH1 program by enhancing IFN-γ secretion. H2R suppresses both TH1 and TH2 functions while promoting the potency of Treg cells. H4R is expressed on certain leukocytes as an important chemotactic receptor. H3R activation on neuronal cells results in altered neurotransmitter release, with subsequent effects on T-cell chemokine release.
