A throw-in is a method of restarting play and is awarded when the ball crosses the touch line.
The throw-in is taken by the opposing team of the player who last touched the ball before if crossed the touch line.
A goal cannot be directly scored from a throw-in and an attacking player cannot be offside if he or she receives the ball directly from the throw-in.

The throw-in should be taken from where the ball crossed the touch line.
For a proper throw-in, the thrower must face the field and have part of both feet on the ground, either on the touch line or on the area off the field of play.
The thrower is also required to use both hands and deliver the ball from behind and over his or her head.
If these requirements are not met, the throw-in is awarded to the opposing team.
Classroom Instructor Talking Points:
These are the only elements required. We don’t care if the ball spins. Our goal is to get the ball back into play.
Animation will show circle around feet. Explain that the player’s feet must be behind or on the line. If asked “Why they can be on the field?” with their feet on the line, your answer should be, “Because the Laws make that specific exception … can’t give you any other reason.”
Because it’s on the Grade 9 test, we are including the provision that a goal cannot be scored directly from a throw-in.
