1 Notification of available channel list in TVWS
Month Year doc.: IEEE yy/xxxxr0 Notification of available channel list in TVWS Date: November, 02, 2010 Authors: Name Company Address Phone Eunsun Kim LG Electronics Mobile Comm. Lab, LG R&D Complex 533, Hogye1, Dongan, Anyang, Korea John Doe, Some Company

2 Introduction Legal Requirements
Notification method of available channel change

3 Legal Requirements Contact Verification Signal
An encoded signal broadcast from a fixed or Mode II device Mode I device receive the contact verification signal from the fixed or Mode II that has provided a list of available channels Encoded to ensure that the signal originates from the device that provided the list of available channels Purpose Ensuring that the Mode I is within the reception range of fixed or Mode II Validating the list of available channels used by the Mode I

4 Legal Requirements List of available channels
A Mode I personal/portable TVBD may only transmit upon receiving a list of available channels from a fixed or Mode II TVBD Fixed or Mode II device may provide a Mode I device with a list of available channels only after FCC ID verification is successful from the database

5 Legal Requirements List of available channels
At least once every 60 seconds, a Mode I device must either receive a contact verification signal from the Mode II or fixed device that provided its current list of available channels or contact a Mode II or fixed device to re-verify/re-establish channel availability. A Mode I device must cease operation immediately if it does not receive a contact verification signal or is not able to re-establish a list of available channels through contact with a fixed or Mode II device on this schedule.

6 WSM Notification WSM Notification Hash
For the purpose of validating the available channel list A unique value used to indicate an instance of a WSM Notification Produced by the HMAC-SHA1-64 hash algorithm Hashed with combined WSM and the identity of the STA that provided the WSM Information Allows the STA to determine whether the available channel list is valid or not Allows the STA to determine whether this is a new notification

7 WSM Notification WSM Request/Response
If a STA receives a new WSM Notification, it transmits WSM element of RLQP or WSM Request frame If a STA receives a duplicated WSM Notification, it does not necessarily request a channel list A STA should provide its Device ID (FCC ID), however it does not necessarily provide every time it request the WSM Device ID is optionally present in WSM Request frame

8 WSM Notification WSM Notification element of RLQP
WSM Notification frame format Element ID Length WSM Notification Hash Octets: 1 8 Category Public Action Length WSM Notification Hash Octets: 1 8

9 White Space Map element
