1 Imagine trying to complete homework assignments in an overcrowded motel room or trying to get a restful night’s sleep on the floor of a friend’s apartment or in a car with your siblings. Our families don’t have to imagine… Mission: To erase the impact of homelessness on children and their education.

2 Children in homelessness are at greatest risk of chronic absenteeism (18 or more days absent per year) which leads to dropping out before high school graduation. Students experiencing a homeless crisis are absent 1.5 times more than their housed classmates. Only 17% of children chronically absent kindergarten through second grade read at grade level in third grade; a key indicator of high school graduation and success in life. Only 25% of chronically absent sixth graders graduate from high school.
