In Australia, every item of packaging will have a symbol which shows which bin it goes in! This symbol indicates that this IS a recyclable item

These items can go in the yellow lidded bin Paper and cardboard Glass bottles and jars Plastic bottles (lids off!) Cans Tins Plastic containers

5. If in doubt leave it out! If you contaminate your recycling, all of your efforts could go to waste

9 Some things you may not know…
Your recyclables must be clean prior to putting them in the bin. Contaminated items are not recycled Lids must be removed from bottles and jars Only the lids of takeaway coffee cups can be recycled as the cup itself is lined with soft plastic Shredded paper cannot be recycled If the plastic item returns to shape when scrunched it can be considered hard plastic
