1 Bell Work Week 21 Pick a math word and write the definition. Chapter 6
Check the calendar! Don’t forget to check your student vue this week! Turn in your 3 worksheets on one-step equations.

2 Title of notes: Two-Step Equations Pg. 33 RS

3 TWO-STEP EQUATION DIRECTIONS
Two step equations are the same as one step equations except there is an extra step. The general rule of thumb when isolating the variable is to undo the order of operations, PEMDAS.  Start with addition and subtraction, then multiplication and division, then exponents, and finally parentheses. You are completing PEMDAS in reverse.

4 Two-Step Equation Examples
Title: Two-Step Equation Examples Pg. 33 LS

5 Example 1: Two-step equation Example 1: 3x – 1 = 8 Ck: 3(3) -1 = 8
3x = x = 3 Ck: 3(3) -1 = 8 9 -1 = 8 √ = 8

6 Example 2: Two-step equation 2x + 3 = 15 Ck: 2(6) + 3 = 15 12 + 3 = 15
2x = x = 6 Ck: 2(6) + 3 = 15 = 15 √ = 15

7 Example 3: Two-step equation 𝒏 𝟑 +𝟐=𝟔 𝒏 𝟑 =𝟒 Ck: 𝟏𝟐 𝟑 +𝟐=𝟔 4 + 2 = 6
𝟑 𝟏 ∙ 𝒏 𝟑 =𝟒 ∙𝟑 n = 12 Ck: 𝟏𝟐 𝟑 +𝟐=𝟔 = 6 √ = 6

8 Example 4: Two step-equations 3y − 𝟔=−𝟏𝟐 𝒏 −𝟒 = 𝟓 Ck: −𝟐𝟎 −𝟒 −𝟑=𝟐
−𝟒 𝟏 ∙ 𝒏 −𝟒 = 𝟓 ∙−𝟒 n = -20 Ck: −𝟐𝟎 −𝟒 −𝟑=𝟐 5 − 3 = 2 √ = 2
