The pN1 category is divided into pN1 single (N1a) and pN1 multiple (N1b). The pN2 category is further divided into pN2 single (N2a) and pN2 multiple (N2b). Despite their different categories, the survival curves for pN1b and pN2a overlap, with 5-year survival rates of 50% and 49% for R0 resection, respectively. There was no statistically significant difference in survival between pN1b and pN2a1, with 5-year survival rates of 50% and 52% for R0 resection, respectively.
