1 Map Directions-what is latitude & longitude?
Using Atlases, classroom resources, your text books and the map of Western Europe identify the following: Greece, Peloponnesus Peninsula, Crete, Rhoades, Athens, Sparta, Corinth, Persia, Carthage, Italy, Rome, Etruria, Magna Grecia, Sicily, England, Ireland, Scotland, Spain (Iberian Peninsula), Russia, Scandinavia (Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland), Constantinople (modern day Turkey), Palatine hill, Apennines Mountains, Alps, Tiber River, Arno River, Rubicon river, Gulf of Corinth, Liguria Sea, Tyrrhenian Sea, Mediterranean Sea, Adriatic sea, Aegean Sea, Ionian Sea, Black Sea, Irish Sea, North Sea, English Channel Color your map, you may color code it in any way that makes sense to you. **Add Tarentum, Dardanelles, Sea of Marmara, Bosporus Straight 8.4.7.B. Explain the importance of historical documents, artifacts, and sites which are critical to world history.

2 Latitude & Longitude (parallels and meridians)
Using Atlas of world history: pgs 36-39 During the Republic of Rome what was located at 10 degrees E and about 32 degrees S? During the height of Rome-what was located at between 50 degrees N 10 W degrees to prime meridian? On your map draw the equator and the prime meridian. Now your group creates a question to ask about Latitude and longitude.
