1 Creating a Powerful Presentation
This document will help you craft your business presentation for WRN or anywhere you want to promote yourself. Slide 2 is a basic outline of how an effective presentation should be constructed. Slide 3 offers some Do’s and Don’ts with some easy advice to make your presentation more powerful and ways to avoid easy mistakes that can hurt your presentation. Slides 4-10 are templates, showing you exactly how to construct your presentation to provide maximum effectiveness and get more dollars in your pocket! 3 Don’ts DO’s Don’t just wing it.
Don’t put a lot of text on a slide. Try using 10 words or less per slide. Don’t use a lot of technical terms, complex graphs or charts. Don’t rely on the internet to work for demos or videos. Download all files you’ll need beforehand. DO’s Use more graphics than text. Make words BIG and readable. Practice your show at least 5 times. Time yourself so you don’t go over. 5 “About Me” intro 1 Minute Cover the basics; where you grew up, marriage status, kids, general hobbies, etc. Don’t spend too much time on your personal life.

6 Why I got into this business 2 Minutes
Tell the story that put you on the path of your career. What great thing inspired you? How did you know this was your calling? The story behind your career choice will help people connect with you personally a unique insight to you as a business person.

7 The technical details of what you do.
2 Minutes Give as brief an overview as possible on the specific things you do in your business. Say just enough to establish yourself as an expert. Remember, the details of your business are interesting to YOU, not your audience.

8 The Compelling Story 3 Minutes
Tell the story of how you helped someone using your unique skills. Perhaps they were desperate, seemed like a lost cause or were reluctant to put their faith in you. Show us how you used your knowledge, expertise and creativity to save the day.

9 The Offer 1 Minute Provide an immediate call to action. This is the next easy next step for working with you and something they can do right now. Provide a special offer, a give-away, an invitation to services, etc. Make it something for which they can write you a tip immediately. People won’t remember to take action later!

10 Q&A 1 Minute Give your audience the opportunity to ask you questions about what you do. However, if no one has a question, be prepared to offer a “typical” question people ask and answer that. Doing so may inspire questions from the audience.
