IN 1768 THE COLONIES WERE ON THE BRINK OF REBELLION AGIANIST THE BRITISH THE BRITISH SEND TROOPS TO ENFORCE BRITISH AUTHORITY. TENSION IN THE STREETS VIOLENCE BROKE OUT IN BOSTON BOSTON MASSACRE MOB RIOT TURN INTO A CONFRONTATION WITH BRITISH TROOPS WHICH FIRED INTO THE CROWD KILLED FIVE COLONIST – THE FIRST WAS CRISPUS ATTUCKS WHAT CAUSED THE MASSACRE ANGER OVER TAXES ON THE COLONIST TROOPS SENT TO OCCUPY CITIES RUDE & VIOLENT BEHAVIOR OF THE SOLDIERS SOLDIERS STEALING FROM SHOPS AND COMPETING FOR JOBS SPREADING THE NEWS COLONIAL LEADERS USE THE BOSTON MASSACRE AS PROPAGANDA COMMITTES OF CORESPONDENCE BOYCOTTS LEAD THE BRITISH TO REMOVE THE TROOPS REPEAL THE TOWNSHEND ACTS EXCEPT ON TEA

3 CRISIS IN BOSTON A TEA PARTY
THE BRITISH EAST INDIA COMPANY WAS VITAL TO THE BRITISH ECONOMY To help the company the British government(parliament) passed the TEA ACT The Tea Act made the East India Company into a Monopoly The colonist did not want to be told what tea they could buy The colonist boycotted the tea and tried to stop the East India Company from unloading the tea. A TEA PARTY COLONIST BOARDED TEA SHIPS IN BOSTON HARBOR AND THROW 342 CHESTS OF TEA OVERBOARD THE BRITISH VOWED TO PUNISH BOSTON FOR THE TEA PARTY THE COERCIVE ACTS OR WHAT THE COLONIST CALLED THEM INTOLERABLE ACTS CLOSED THE PORT OF BOSTON UNTIL THE TEA WAS PAID FOR COLONIST WERE FORCED TO QUARTER TROOPS IN THE HOMES BANNED TOWN MEETINGS IN MASS. AND CLOSED THE MASS GENERAL ASSEMBLY THE QUEBEC ACT THE COLONIST BELIEVED THESE LAWS VIOLATED THEIR RIGHTS AS ENGLISH CITIZENS.
