1 Low-Fi Prototype and Testing
TidBits Low-Fi Prototype and Testing Intro pres Added S

2 Overview MISSION STATEMENT SELECTED INTERFACE RATIONALE
TASK STORYBOARDS PROTOTYPE TESTING STRUCTURE PARTICIPANTS PROCEDURE RESULTS SUMMARY Changing understanding of mission statement Went w/ more traditional design Prototype concept seemed familiar, interaction required diff thinking

3 Mission Statement

4 Problem/Solution Overview
People want to tell stories with their experiences, not just post a few pictures

5 Problem/Solution Overview
People want to tell stories with their experiences, not just post a few pictures Despite this, consistently capturing memories across multiple formats and later putting them all together presents a high enough barrier to entry that people ultimately don’t do this.

6 Problem/Solution Overview
People want to tell stories with their experiences, not just post a few pictures Despite this, consistently capturing memories across multiple formats and later putting them all together presents a high enough barrier to entry that people ultimately don’t do this. Our solution: Make consistently creating, compiling, and sharing detailed experience-based stories a quick and easy process. Cover general problem Larger idea behind a “blog”

7 Share Meaningful Memories
Mission Statement Share Meaningful Memories

8 Mission Statement Share Meaningful Memories
Make Lasting Memories. Share Meaningful Stories. Aren’t sharing memories (all social media does that) We’re sharing stories

9 Selected Interface

10 Selected Interface Familiar Everything consolidated in one place
User has a high degree of control over their posts instagram/all in one Vs out of app -> which doesn’t try to replace existing social Media, leverages it Not compelling enough in end All-in-one/Instagram Model

11 Task 1: Social Interaction
view a friend’s post find a friend’s profile add a new friend Social stuff

12 Task 2: Make Tidbits Record various types of memories
Recording each type of memory

13 Task 3: Compile and share
Create a new post Find your shared posts and saved memories Process of compiling Memories b/w dates may be wrong Add as much or little detail as you want, share

14 Prototype Testing

15 Testing Methods - Prototype
Overall structure, shows screen flows for tasks

16 Testing Methods - Participants

17 Testing Methods - Participants
40 year old Female Consultant at American Express

18 Testing Methods - Participants
40 year old Female Consultant at American Express Participant 2 Stanford junior CS major

19 Testing Methods - Participants
40 year old Female Consultant at American Express Participant 2 Stanford junior CS major Participant 3 22 year old Medical Researcher #1 does some UI/UX research #2 young, uses social media #3 has insta with cool facts

20 Testing Methods - Procedure
Initial Setup Briefly explain concept and demo interaction Record the test Ask to perform 3 tasks with subtasks Finally ask for general feedback

21 Testing Methods - Timing
Participant 1 Participant 2 Participant 3 Look at friend’s post 13.21 18.84 28.79 Find friend’s profile 7.33 19.14 17.99 Add a new friend 16.82 58.26 26.78 Record new memories 30.81 1:46.04 1:19.71 Create and share new post 1:50.03 20.08 17.20 Find your posts and saved memories 1:45.72 00.46 00.53 Takeaways All tasks completed Variations in speed “Computer” was sometimes slow... Overall faster at beginning, slower near end

22 Testing Methods - Positives
All participants quickly grasped the general concept Many of the tasks were almost instantaneously completed (even if computer couldn’t always keep up) General understanding was high

23 Testing Methods - Mistakes
UI icons and terminology not always clear Selecting memories within a specific time window might not be right method Uncertainty about memory creation to story compilation to sharing flow Minor - UI problems More significant - Core App loop

24 Summary

25 Summary We plan to keep general model similar to existing social media platforms Need to make sure the flow between making memories and building more complete “posts” is clear and intuitive. Maintain focus on mission statement: Make lasting memories. Share meaningful stories. Concept seemed familiar, stick with general layout Challenge lies in making sure the core loop is intuitive and clear Stay true to mission
