1 Negotiation between neighbor CMs
July 2011 Negotiation between neighbor CMs Date: Authors: Notice: This document has been prepared to assist IEEE It is offered as a basis for discussion and is not binding on the contributing individual(s) or organization(s). The material in this document is subject to change in form and content after further study. The contributor(s) reserve(s) the right to add, amend or withdraw material contained herein. Release: The contributor grants a free, irrevocable license to the IEEE to incorporate material contained in this contribution, and any modifications thereof, in the creation of an IEEE Standards publication; to copyright in the IEEE’s name any IEEE Standards publication even though it may include portions of this contribution; and at the IEEE’s sole discretion to permit others to reproduce in whole or in part the resulting IEEE Standards publication. The contributor also acknowledges and accepts that this contribution may be made public by IEEE Patent Policy and Procedures: The contributor is familiar with the IEEE 802 Patent Policy and Procedures < ieee802.org/guides/bylaws/sb-bylaws.pdf>, including the statement "IEEE standards may include the known use of patent(s), including patent applications, provided the IEEE receives assurance from the patent holder or applicant with respect to patents essential for compliance with both mandatory and optional portions of the standard." Early disclosure to the TAG of patent information that might be relevant to the standard is essential to reduce the possibility for delays in the development process and increase the likelihood that the draft publication will be approved for publication. Please notify the Chair as early as possible, in written or electronic form, if patented technology (or technology under patent application) might be incorporated into a draft standard being developed within the IEEE TAG. If you have questions, contact the IEEE Patent Committee Administrator at Donghun Lee, et al, ETRI

2 Contents Negotiation between neighbor CMs Etiquette mode
July 2011 Contents Negotiation between neighbor CMs Etiquette mode Round-robin mode Competition mode Donghun Lee, et al, ETRI

3 Negotiation between neighbor CMs
July 2011 Negotiation between neighbor CMs Purpose of this algorithm This algorithm enables the coexistence system to share the frequency bands of the coexistence managers effectively in a case where two or more TVBDs are inter-CM neighbor relation. Time-division multiplexing (TDM) is considered as operating channel sharing mechanism such as round-robin mode and competition mode Donghun Lee, et al, ETRI

4 Negotiation between neighbor CMs
July 2011 Negotiation between neighbor CMs Negotiation mode Etiquette mode : When all neighbor CMs allow the independent use, the inter-CM neighbor network uses independent operating channels, i.e., non-overlapped operating channels with neighbor networks or devices, called etiquette mode Round-robin mode : This mode sequentially assigns time slot to all inter-CM neighbor networks for sharing operating channels Competition mode : This mode assigns time slot to particular inter-CM neighbor networks through competition among inter-CM neighbor networks Donghun Lee, et al, ETRI

5 in inter-CM negotiation
July 2011 CM operation in inter-CM negotiation Donghun Lee, et al, ETRI

6 Negotiation between neighbor CMs
July 2011 Negotiation between neighbor CMs Etiquette mode The procedure of decision making of operating channel list consists of 7 steps where step 2-5 are used for checking usable channel list of the registered TVBDs, and step 6 is used for tuning operating channel list through message exchange between neighbor CMs Message sequence for the etiquette mode Donghun Lee, et al, ETRI Hyunduk Kang, ETRI

7 Negotiation between neighbor CMs
July 2011 Negotiation between neighbor CMs Round-robin mode The procedure of decision making of round-robin mode parameters consists of 7 steps where step 2 is used for checking whether the registered TVBDs support time scheduling and step 3-4 are used for tuning operating channel list, time sharing unit through message exchange between neighbor CMs. Message sequence for the round-robin mode Donghun Lee, et al, ETRI

8 Negotiation between neighbor CMs
July 2011 Negotiation between neighbor CMs Competition mode The procedure of decision making of competition mode parameters is similar to round-robin mode, which is tuning operating channel list, time sharing unit through message exchange between neighbor CMs. The procedure of decision making of announcement parameters notifies the competition results to all neighbor CMs Message sequence for the competition mode Donghun Lee, et al, ETRI
