2. Tax Skit Directions: Groups of 4 to 5 Students
Create a skit that explain taxes and includes:
Gross Pay vs Net Pay (Exercise 7.1)
Mandatory Deductions (Exercise 7.1)
Other Deductions (Exercise 7.1)
Progressive Tax (Exercise 7.2)
Retirement Savings and Health Insurance Premiums (Exercise 7.2)
EACH GROUP MUST HAVE A WRITTEN SCRIPT FOR EACH GROUP MEMBER!!!
Skit Example for Mr. Comegys:
-Mr. Dwyer- …have to pay them.
-Mr. Comegys- Mr. Dwyer if we don’t pay taxes then you won’t be able to enjoy many publicly provided services like schools, libraries, and national parks.
-Mr. Dwyer- …I have to pay them.
Skit Example for Mr. Dwyer:
-Mr. D- Taxes stink man, I just don’t know why we have to pay them.
-Mr. C- …anything in our country.
-Mr. D- Really, I love those things, tell me more about these taxes so I can better understand why I have to pay them.
