2 Feedback from WG D WISE Development:
Member States want to be more engaged in the work on WISE WISE Workshop (15/16 December) good initiative should focus on implementation plan (IP), and future development WG D, GIS experts and Testers to be invited Circulate IP prior to the meeting IP will be discussed in detail at next WG D meeting Joint Workshop Overall useful No real integration – more time needed for discussing linkages (e.g. PoM) Development of a joint data dictionary important

3 Preparatory Process First draft presented in April 2005 Written comments of WG D 30 June: Discussion of comments on drafting group Version 2.1 incorporating comments based on agreement of DG Circulation of version 2.1 to WG D, A, C, GIS and AMPS for written comments until 7 October Comments received from AT, BE, CZ, DE, DK, FI, FR, LV, MT, NL, NO, SE, SK, UK and HR. Discussion of around 120 comments on WG D meeting of 20/21 October Current version 4.0 as agreed on meeting

4 Outcome of WG D Agreement on 2007 Reporting Guidance Minor open issues (next slide) Agreement on Water Directors’ meeting supported Further technical developments needed in particular schema definitions and data dictionary Testing was appreciated in the past and should be carried out for 2007 Guidance Initial discussion on 2010 Reporting Guidance – outline supported and basis for future work Start work on RBMP concept, programme of measures and environmental objectives

5 Outstanding issues for 2007
Reporting Guidance Clarification on minor groundwater issues (depth sampling) Minor editing required to make groundwater reporting sheets consistent with surface water (e.g. whether monitoring site are part of Eionet Water network)

6 Tasks for development of electronic
reporting mechanism (WISE) To be discussed after agreement of guidance: Site name to be optional Decide whether surveillance and operational monitoring should be separated in schemas Define a mechanism for identifying where monitoring sites are a part of other networks (e.g. Eionet water) Develop a predefined list of types of investigative monitoring programme Develop an identifier system for quality elements Development of a common data dictionary

7 Next steps Last round of written comments on version 4.1 invited until 7 November Revision of document for presentation to Water Directors by 15 November Discussion and endorsement requested by WD Develepment of schemas by mid-2006 in consultation with WG D and GIS group Testing of new part Sept/Oct 2006 System operational for reporting end of 2006

Take note of the results Acknowledge the open points Sent written comments (consolidated with WG D) by 7 November Agree that the document goes forward to the Water Directors for final endorsement Agree that the 2010 outline is presented to WD in order to agree the list as a basis for work in 2006
