2 April 2009 doc.: IEEE /xxxxr0 February 2014 Abstract Use cases for analysis and simulation of proposed coexistence techniques for sharing of 5.9GHz DSRC band by unlicensed (802.11) devices. Jim Lansford, CSR Technology Rich Kennedy, Research In Motion

3 Agenda Objectives for simulations Use cases February 2014
Contributions to add to this model are welcomed! Jim Lansford, CSR Technology

4 Objectives Two proposals so far:
February 2014 Objectives Two proposals so far: CCA-based detection and avoidance of DSRC Repacking of DSRC band CCA-based proposal is true band sharing (co-channel), so use cases are needed for simulation and testing Need agreement on parameters for simulation Path loss models Repacking the DSRC band puts an adjacent channel to DSRC – ACI is the primary issue Jim Lansford, CSR Technology

PTX-WLAN PTX-DSRC CCAWLAN CCADSRC SensWLAN SensDSRC PLOSS-NLOS (Cars) PLOSS-LOS (SBUX) VCar1 VCar2 Two cars converge on an intersection on a collision course, both of which are equipped with DSRC. The hotspot at the Starbucks on the corner is using WLAN in the 5.9GHz band. The propagation between cars is NLOS, but between the cars and the Starbucks is LOS. For the proposed algorithm, how much will the driver’s reaction times be reduced before the hotspot drops off the band? Jim Lansford, CSR Technology
