1 Age-specific and sex-specific adult mortality risk in India in 2014: analysis of 0·27 million nationally surveyed deaths and demographic estimates from 597 districts  Prof Usha Ram, PhD, Prof Prabhat Jha, DPhil, Patrick Gerland, PhD, Ryan J Hum, MEng, Peter Rodriguez, MSA, Wilson Suraweera, MSc, Kaushalendra Kumar, MPS, Prof Rajesh Kumar, MD, Rajesh Dikshit, PhD, Prof Denis Xavier, MD, Rajeev Gupta, MD, Prakash C Gupta, DSc, Prof Faujdar Ram, PhD  The Lancet Global Health  Volume 3, Issue 12, Pages e767-e775 (December 2015) DOI: /S X(15) Copyright © 2015 Ram et al. 2 Figure 1 Probability of men and women dying versus age by district mortality levels for India (2014) and high-income OECD countries (2010) We extended the probability of dying at an age of 85–100 years by multiplying mortality rates in the previous age interval to the ratio of mortality at the age of 80–85 years to 75–80 years. Thus, the estimates at the oldest ages are less certain than are those at younger ages. OECD=Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. 3 Figure 2 Geographical distribution (kriging interpolation estimates) of conditional probability of dying, by age group, in India, 2014 Heat maps (kriging interpolation) show the conditional probability of dying at an age of 15–69 years for (A) men and (B) women. (C) Conditional probability of dying at an age of 0–15 years. (D) Male-to-female gap in conditional probability of dying at an age of 15–69 years.
