By: Ivan Gonzalez

2 Background - Expo Line scheduled to open in 2011
- Opportunities exist for transportation projects to improve access to the stop along Crenshaw Blvd.

3 Existing Conditions Focus Area: Crenshaw Corridor in South L.A.
Existing Issues with transit use: reliability, congestion, access to community resources

4 Population Density Density Exists at the beginning and end of the corridor There exists opportunity for density increases near the Expo Line Stop.

5

6 Density in Proximity to Resources

7 Median Income Median Income is lower at areas with higher densities
This will serve as the initial target population for the proposed shuttle service, with new riders emerging as density increases with time (due to Expo Line).

8 Transit Use vs. Transit Dependence

9 The Crenshaw Shuttle - The Shuttle will run at 15 minute headways on weekdays and 30 minutes on weekends - Fares of $.25 will be equitable to transit dependent target group

10 Skills Learned Inset Map (Slide 3)
Aggregating Attributes (Slides 4, 6) Buffering (Slides 3, 6) Creating Indices (for Geocoding) Geocoding (Slide 9) Graduated Point (Slide 7) Others (Boundary Attributes/Select by Location)

11 Next Steps I will analyze potential alternatives to the shuttle service. I will also project how ridership from the Expo Line can effectively use the Shuttle to get to the corridor’s current and upcoming amenities. Will apply Spatial Analyst to improve Shuttle route.
