17 Think about reality TV Other shows: Survivor, Road Rules, Top Chef, etc. Work in a group of 4, discuss, and prepare to present your conversation to the class. What reality TV shows do you watch? What are your favorites? Which shows do you not like? Why do you think reality shows are so popular? NEXT TIME (Wednesday) for 5161 (meet on Monday 1 hr)

In groups you will present: 1) A brief presentation on why you do or do not like reality television. Is reality television and mass media good for us? What are the pros and cons of mass media? 2) Act out a scene from a reality television show of your choosing. NEXT TIME (Wednesday for 5161) (meet on mon. 1 hr)

19 2nd task: Advertisements
Find an advertisement If it’s a print ad, bring it in; if it’s a commercial, save to a flash drive (make sure it works!) Explain how the advertisers are selling the product What techniques are they using? Does this make you want to buy the product? Do you like this advertisement? What are the pros and cons of advertising? Choose a product Create an in-person advertisement – sell it to the class by presenting it Describe the benefits and features Why would the class want to buy it? Why techniques could you use to sell it? Why does someone need this product? How does it help his/her life? For all sections this is homework
