1 Magical Hexagons (Teachers notes):
1. Again the students can work in pairs throughout this exercise. They can complete the first slide on whiteboards. For all of the magical puzzles the students can only use the numbers once. 2. You may want to print out slides 4, 6 and 8. If the students are struggling with the hexagons you could inform them that it is possible to find the total for at least one row or diagonal without adding any numbers. The total for slide 4 is 38, slide 6 has a total of 19 and slide 8 has a total of 0.

On your whiteboards draw a 3 by 3 grid like the one below. You need to add the numbers 1 to 9 so that each row, column and diagonal add up to the same number. You can only use each number once.
