4 First step – definitions matter
Intent of national forest to “manage resources in order to restore, maintain and develop resilient landscapes”. First step – definitions matter “Resilience” is defined as the capacity of the natural environment to absorb and recover from disturbance (natural or human) so as to retain essentially the same function, structure, identity, and processes (Walker et al. 2004). “Adaptive capacity”, the ability of a system to adjust and adapt to shifting underling climate conditions while retaining similar structure and function, is often considered part of resilience as well. Then – what are we “restoring”?

10 Defining terrestrial restoration need

11 Defining aquatic restoration need
Question 1: Which subwatersheds in the Upper Green River are in need of active restoration and how would they be prioritized based on that need? Question 2: How do actions in the Upper Green integrate with and impact whole watershed plans?
