5 Why fight in the south? More Loyalists lived in the Southern Colonies, and the British were hoping they would support and supply the British troops in the area. 01 02 The Southern Colonies were richer in resources and more important for England to keep.

REASONS WHY PATRIOTS WIN YORKTOWN: 1) French fleet cutoff Cornwallis from getting more troops or making an escape by sea 2) French/American forces surround the land around Yorktown cutting off escape by land

8 WHY DID YORKTOWN END THE WAR?
The British realize the war will be too costly to pursue.

Battle of Yorktown Final Battle of Revolution Treaty of Paris *OFFICIAL END OF THE WAR* Negotiated by BENJAMIN FRANKLIN, JOHN ADAMS, AND JOHN JAY. WHAT DID IT SAY: England recognizes America as an independent nation. America gets all land from Atlantic Ocean to Mississippi River and from Canada to Georgia. Both sides agree to pay the debts owed to one another.
