Lesson 4.3 Graphing Horizontal & Vertical Lines
Mr. Beltz & Mr. Sparks
2
Horizontal Think Horizon…left & right.
3
Vertical Think of Mr. Beltz’s Vertical Jump in basketball. (Up & Down)
4
Linear equations Review
All linear equations can be written in the form: Ax + By = C
5
Horizontal Lines Ax + By = C When A = 0 The equation reduces to By = C
This results in a HORIZONTAL LINE (Example 1)
7
Vertical Lines Ax + By = C When B = 0 The equation reduces to Ax = C
This results in a VERTICAL LINE (Example 2)
9
Summary If y = b Horizontal Line If x = a Vertical Line
10
Writing an Equation of a line.
The graph is a vertical line. The x-coordinate is always -2. The equation of the line is x= -2 (Example 3a)
12
Write an Equation of a line.
