1 stands out. OUTLIER 15 is an outlier.
Definition: A data value that is much higher or lower than the other data values in the set. Remember: Basically, the outlier is the number that   stands out. Example: 2, 4, 6, 4, 7, 2, 3, 5, 3, 15, 6, 4 In this data set, 15 is an outlier. (15 is a much higher number than the others.) Picture: Which one is the outlier? OUTLIER

2 This matrix A has three rows and four columns.
Definition: A rectangular arrangement of numbers. Remember: Each item in a MATRIX is an element. More Information: The number of rows and columns of a MATRIX determines its size. Picture: ( ) ( ) ( ) This 4 is an element. MATRIX This matrix A has three rows and four columns. We say it is a 3 x 4 matrix.

3 The more hours (x) worked, the more money (y) earned.
Definition: An equation that can be expressed in the form y = kx, where k ≠ 0. If x increases, so does y. If x decreases, so does y. Remember: Direct: If a number on one side of the equation increases, then the number on the other side of the equation will also increase. Example: y=kx The more hours (x) worked, the more money (y) earned. DIRECT VARIATION Different Side

4 Same Side INVERSE VARIATION Inverse:
Definition: An equation that can be expressed in the form xy = k. If x increases, y decreases. If x decreases, y increases. Remember: Inverse: If one of the numbers on one side increases, then the other number on that side of the equation will decrease. Example: The more people painting the school (x), the less time (y) it takes to do the job. INVERSE VARIATION Same Side

5 I, II, III, IV are all Quadrants.
Definition: The four parts into which the coordinate plane is divided by its axes. means 4 Picture: I, II, III, IV are all Quadrants. Quad QUADRANTS
