What is Media Literacy? How do different peoples, cultures and societies express themselves in today’s world? How is 'bias' applied in modern media? Can modern media be truly fair and balanced? How are media messages influenced by ideological, social and political agendas?

4 What is Media Literacy? Media literacy is the process of accessing, analyzing, evaluating and creating messages in a wide variety of media modes, genres and forms. It uses an inquiry-based instructional model that encourages people to ask questions about what they watch, see and read.

5 How is the Media a source of Knowledge?

6 Why is it Important? It provides tools to help people critically analyze messages to detect propaganda, censorship, and bias in news and public affairs programming (and the reasons for such), and to understand how structural features -- such as media ownership, or its funding model-- affect the information presented. Objectivity: not taking sides or having no bias Subjectivity: Taking sides or having a bias
