1 AO4 Evaluation

2 Evaluation In this final section you need to look back on your campaign and consider how successful it was (or wasn’t!). The more depth and detail the higher the mark.

3 Evaluation - 7 sections 1. Reflect on your Aims and Objectives – have you achieved them? 2. Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of each stage of the campaign? 3. Analyse and evaluate the feedback you gained from the group? Graphs and tables. 4. Explain the possible short and long term effects of your campaign on the target group? 5. Draw valid conclusions from the evidence which are clear and detailed? 6. Suggest how the campaign could be improved for the future? 7. Explain the advantages and disadvantages of the campaign for key workers to use?

4 Presentation of the Evaluation
Mainly descriptive Statistics - charts

5 Why do we evaluate the campaign?

6 1. Reflect on your Aims and Objectives – have you achieved them?
Do you think they have been met? Why? Why not? Base your opinion on the evidence of any feedback you gained: Audience attention/understanding ( e.g. from your observation and Q&A) Audience participation in activities (e.g. wordsearch, physical activities) Audience feedback sheets on their knowledge ( e.g. Quiz questions) What improvements to the campaign could you suggest based on this evidence?

7 2. Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of each stage of the campaign?
Planning Venue Resources (from elsewhere or designed yourself) Methods of delivery Activities Feedback materials

8 Discuss the strengths and weaknesses
What went well, and why? What evidence do you have for thinking this? Could it be further improved? How? What didn’t go so well, why not? How do you know? What could you do next time to avoid/prevent the problem? And improve the outcome? Do make sure that the improvements you suggest are appropriate and realistic and match the weaknesses you have identified.

9 Other factors What other factors helped / hindered?
The environment (temperature of the room, distracting noise, comfortable surroundings) Individual doing the teaching (friendly, confident, anyone helped) Presentation (length, interest level, understandable, use of supporting materials)

10 Self-evaluation What did you do well? What would you change?
What have you learnt from the activity? What have you learnt about yourself?

11 3. Analyse and evaluate the feedback you gained from the group?
Target group/Witness statement Take each question separately, look at the responses. Use simple bar charts/pie charts to show the results (don’t bother to do this with 100% responses) For open questions read and come to a conclusion using typical quotes (you don’t have to copy out all the answers as the sheets will be in a separate appendix section at the back)

12 What does the feedback tell you about the effectiveness of your campaign?
For example: Have you achieved your aims and objectives? Was your campaign well-prepared, resourced and delivered at the right level for your audience. Are there any improvements you could make based on what your audience has told you?

13 4. Explain the possible short and long term effects of your campaign on the target group?
Describe what could happen as a result of your campaign and then explain using ‘because ...’

14 5. Draw valid conclusions from the evidence which are clear and detailed?
Conclusions may only be one or two sentences Was your campaign overall successful and why? Summarises you evaluation so far in one or two clear statements

15 6. Suggest how the campaign could be improved for the future?
What went well, and why? What evidence do you have for thinking this? Could it be further improved? How? What didn’t go so well, why not? How do you know? What could you do next time to avoid/prevent the problem? And improve the outcome?

16 Also consider including…
Well-argued recommendations for the future Make sure that the improvements you suggest are appropriate and realistic and match the weaknesses you have identified

17 7. Explain the advantages and disadvantages of the campaign for key workers to use?
Who are the main keyworkers who have an influence over your target group? Make a list. For each key worker, discuss the advantages and disadvantages of using your campaign in its current form How could you adapt your campaign so it could be useful to them?

18 Feedback and Evaluation methods used
Reflect on the appropriateness of the methods you used Second survey Longer term impact?

19 Finally Acknowledge anyone who helped / organisations who have given support
