2 According to… the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, motor vehicles are the leading cause of death among Americans up to 34 years old.

3 What factors contribute to this?
Alcohol consumption High speeds Drowsy driving Not wearing seat belts Texting/phone Eating

4 Most accidents… could be avoided by following common safety practices.
Make your own list of Do’s and Don’ts on the chart provided.

5 Do’s Wear your seat belt. Pay attention. Obey traffic laws.
Drive at the speed limit. Signal before turning or changing lanes. Reduce speed at night, in bad weather, and in heavy traffic.

6 Don’ts Drive under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Drive above the speed limit. Pass a stopped school bus. Drive through a stop sign or stop light without stopping. Pass a car unless there’s plenty of room ahead. Drive if you are sleepy.

7 Safe Driving Poster Be creative! Use color.
Pick one of 5 topics: Impaired driving (DUI/DWI) Seat belts Speeding Distracted Driving Drowsy driving Take notes about safety issues, dangers, risks, statistics. Include the state laws, personal stories, and bodily injuries that could occur as a result of unsafe driving. Include examples of trauma that might happen if safety practices are not followed. Be creative! Use color. Use graphics/pictures. (no graphic pictures) Include statistics. Only use 5-10 words per bullet point. Don’t Forget:
